ACHIEVEMENTS - 2002
Each year, Sport
Athletes of the Year are nominated by coaching staff.
These athletes have displayed,
during their
scholarship year, an exceptional level of sports performance,
a commendable attitude to competition, persistent dedication
to learning and strong community support.
2002 Golf Athlete of the Year -
PETER NASCIMENTO
This year, Peter became the youngest player to qualify for the
NSW Open & the second youngest to qualify for a professional
tournament in Australia.
His achievements include being a member of NSW & NSW Schoolboys
squads; winner of the U15 National Title as a member of the NSW
squad; tournament winner - Carnarvon, South West Rocks, Camden,
Kiama, Harvey Norman Week of Golf, Prime 90; he was runner-up in
U15events at Hopes Junior, Bathurst; and 3rd - State
Schoolboys (stroke event).
2002 Hockey
Athlete of the Year - LYNDAL OGILVIE
From Woonona ,
Lyndal is a Hockey goalkeeper who plays both mens and womens
competition. In 2002, she was selected in the NSW Under 21
Indoor team; NSW Combined High Schools Open team; NSW All
Schools Under 16 side.
2002 Netball Athlete of the Year - NICOLE HAHN
Plays for the Dapto
Netball Club and one day hopes to represent Australia.
She was selected in the NSW Sprites (the NSWIS squad) and is in
the final selection phase for NSW State U17 squad.

Rugby League Athlete of the Year - KALE HARTLEY
Kale represented Illawarra U14 Country
Championship Squad. He captains his club, school and
representative squads.
Kale is too young to complete his Level One Coaching
accreditation, so has used his initiative to complete his
referees Level 1 and regularly referees local competition.
2002 Rugby Union
Athlete of the Year - ZAC HILL-TODD
Zac is a member of theTech Waratahs club
and has represented both Illawarra and New South Wales at U16
level.
Coaching staff feel one of his best qualities is his focus in
competition. He is a senior player in the 2002 squad and
regularly assists primary school athletes with “Try Rugby” and
“Walla Rugby Nights”
2002 Sailing
Athlete of the Year - JONATHON ENGLISH
Jonathon was voted “Best Youth Overall
at Maricat National Titles”. He placed 5th in
open age division and 1st on Handicap.
He finished 4th in open age division at the Kembla
Klassic. At 14, he has already set himself the target of
representing Australia at the Youth Worlds in 2004.
2002 Swimming
Athlete of the Year - JOSH MINOGUE
In 2002, Joshua combined elite performance with helping others.
In the pool he was selected in Australian National Youth
Swimming Squad Member of Australian Youth Team in the Trans
Tasman Series Member of NSW Swimming Touring Team.
At Australian Age Championship he placed 1st in 200m
Butterfly and 2nd in 100m Butterfly. He is a keen
supporter of Swim School activities and participates in
supporting junior level swimmers. He also volunteers at Thirroul
SLSC on patrol and for water safety for nipper activities.
