ACHIEVEMENTS - 2003
Each year, Sport
Athletes of the Year are nominated by coaching staff.
These athletes have displayed,
during their
scholarship year, an exceptional level of sports performance,
a commendable attitude to competition, persistent dedication
to learning and strong community support.

2003 Hockey
Athlete of the Year - JESSICA CRAMP
Jessica was selected in the Australian U16
All Schools team in 2003. At state level, she made
the NSW U18 and U16 All Schools teams.
At regional level, Jessica was selected in
the Illawarra Senior State League Team and Illawarra
U18's. Jessica’s assists in coaching clinics for junior
players - 2003 was her second year at the Academy.

2003 Individual
Athlete of the Year - CARA LANGENDAM
At the National Surf Life Saving
Championships Cara placed 2nd in the U19 Flags event and 8th
in the open ladies Flags event. She came 2nd in
the U19 Flags at the State Championships.
Cara completed her HSC in 2003 and aims to
pursue a career in physiotherapy. Her favourite sporting
experience so far was at the 2002 World Titles at Daytona
Beach, Florida when she was 16, competing in open events,
she won and silver in the flags and bronze in the sprint.

2003 Netball
Athlete of the Year - LEAH SHOARD
Leah has been at the Academy for 3 years. In
2003, she gained selection in the
NSW U17 team, which came 2nd at
the National Championships. An Illawarra netball
representative for the past 4 years and member of the
Illawarra State League Team.
Leah plays the game of Netball with great
enthusiasm and grace, and displays an outstanding attitude
both on and off the court. She is a multi-talented athlete,
competing at a high level in running and swimming. |

2003 Rugby
League Athlete of the Year - RHYS COCHRANE
Rhys
has had an outstanding season - selected in the NSW
CHS U15 Squad, he was also a member of the victorious
Illawarra Country Championship squad, Harold Matthews Cup
squad, South Coast CHS U15 squad and the Southern NSW CHS
U15 squad.
Rhys is a fierce competitor and leader and
highly respected by his team-mates and peers. 2003 was
Rhys’ second year at the Academy. |
