ACHIEVEMENTS - 2003
Each year,
Sport Athletes of the Year are nominated by coaching staff.
These athletes have displayed,
during their
scholarship year, an exceptional level of sports performance,
a commendable attitude to competition, persistent dedication
to learning and strong community support.

2003 Rugby
Union Athlete of the Year - BEN BLAKELY
Ben was a member of the NSW U16 team that
took out the Australian Championships, and selected in the
Shoalhaven U17 team and South Coast region Secondary
Schools team.
Ben’s goals are to become a professional
Rugby player before hanging up the boots at around the age
of 35. His favourite sporting experience to date was the
country carnival in Forbes. |

2003 Sailing
Athlete of the Year - ALISHA KAWALLA
Alisha is a member of both the NSWIS and
Yachting NSW training & development squads. In a highly
successful year for Alisha, she grabbed 2nd place at the NSW
Youth Championships, and won the Youth Sailboarding event at
the National Championships,.
Alisha is a
multi-talented sportswoman who also plays soccer,
touch and completes in athletics where she runs in the 200m.
This is Alisha’s 3rd year in the Academy. |

2003 Swimming
Athlete of the Year - JOSH MINOGUE
This is Josh’s
2nd Athlete of the Year Award after also taking out the
award last year. His 2003 achievements include: winning the
15yrs 200m Butterfly at the Australian Age Championships,
and the 16yrs 200m Butterfly at both the NSW and Queensland
State Age Championships.
Josh was named
in the Australian Youth Swimming Squad and competed against
New Zealand in July 2003 and also named in the NSW Swimming
“Target 2004” Squad - a squad that aims to prepare swimmers
for Athens 2004. |
