ATHLETE ACHIEVEMENTS - 2004

Each year, Sport Athletes of the Year are nominated by coaching staff.  These athletes have displayed, during their scholarship year, an exceptional level of sports performance, a commendable attitude to competition, persistent dedication to learning and strong community support.


2004 Disability Athlete of the Year - SAM HARDAKER

Sam had an exceptional year, not only studying his HSC, but breaking numerous Australian records and continually setting PB’s.

 

The highlight of the year for Sam was his selection in the Australian Pre-paralympic squad to represent Australia at the Czech Republic Championships, where he placed  - 2nd 150m IM,  3rd 50m backstroke, 3rd 100m freestyle.  In addition to his HSC studies he completed the Department of Tourism, Sport & Recreation Sports Administration Certificate Course.


2004 Cricket Athlete of the Year - JILL LIHOU

This is Jill's first year at the Academy for Jill. She has developed into a leader of the squad, despite her youth. 

 

Jill displays a high level of personal motivation and enthusiasm which rubs off on her team mates. 

 

An opening bowler, this year Jill was selected in the NSW Women’s U’15 Team.


2004 Cycling Athlete of the Year - JOSH WALL

Josh is regarded as one of the upcoming young riders in Australia, being nominated for Australian U’19 Cyclist of the Year.  Josh had an outstanding tour of New Zealand while representing Australia at the Bikewise Junior International Tour, as well the Commonwealth Youth Games.

 

Josh won both the Time Trial and the Road Race in the Australian U’19 Championship series, and has recently been picked up by a French team, VC Beauvail – OISE Professional Riding team to ride professionally on tour in 2005.

 


2004 Golf Athlete of the Year - LINCOLN TIGHE

At just 15, Lincoln was selected in the - NSW Junior Team Rep (one of four – where usually players are 17 years) and was also a State of Origin U17 representative.  He was Overall Winner of the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation (JNJGF) Harvey Norman Week of Golf, 2nd in State Age (U14), 2nd overall NSW Junior Championship, 2nd JNJGF International Classic.

 

Lincoln was introduced to the sport of golf by his father, and he always aims to give 100% and be the best player he can be.
