Athlete Selection
Athletes are selected following trials conducted throughout
the Academy region. Usually, prospective scholarship
athletes attend two trials prior to final selection.
A selection panel comprising representatives of the Academy
coaching staff and NSW Rugby coaches make athlete selection
recommendations to the Academy.
Refer also to common eligibility criteria at
scholarship program.
Program
Components
The program has been developed in close consultation with
NSW Rugby. The main game areas covered in the program
are ball skills, scrummaging, foot speed, agility, speed of
mind, and tackling, with education sessions covering Injury

squad competes annually in Academy 10's tournaments and attends
a Waratah Camp in Sydney involving other regional academies
and featuring guest sessions from NSW Rugby and Waratah coaches
and technical staff.
