TOBIN FAMILY AWARD

The
Award is presented to the Illawarra Academy of Sport's Athlete
of the Year. It has been named "The Tobin Family Award" in
recognition of that family's contribution to sport in the
Illawarra for more than sixty-five years. The Tobin Family Award is
given to the Academy athlete who, during the course of their
scholarship, displays an exceptional level of sports
performance, a commendable attitude to competition,
persistent dedication to learning and strong community
support.
Nominations from all Academy sports programs will be
eligible for the award.
The Academy still benefits
from the guidance and drive of Ted Tobin who, as its first
Administrative Director and then Chairman, worked tirelessly
for a decade to provide junior athletes with opportunities
to develop their skills locally.
|
The
recipient of The Tobin Family Award, in addition to a trophy,
will receive financial support to visit and be coached by elite
coaches at an international standard sports centre of their
choice either in Australia or overseas - this feature will make
The Tobin Family Award one of the most significant junior sports
development awards in Australia.
City
Coast Credit Union, a longtime supporter of the Academy provides
$5,000 annually to the Tobin recipient.
Annually the Academy recognises athlete excellence in all of its
